Visualization of Angiogenesis During Cancer Development
Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) is a crucial mediator of tumour angiogenesis. High expression levels of the receptor have been correlated to poor prognosis in cancer patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the pharmacokinetics and angiogenesis imaging abilities of the VEGFR2-targeting positron emission tomography (PET) tracer (R)-[11C]PAQ. [...] Whole slides were captured using a 10x [...] primary objective on a VSlide slide scanning microscope [...]. Individual field-of-view images were stitched to produce images of entire lung sections with microscopic resolution. Images were analysed using the (VSViewer) software [...]. The results indicate that (R)-[11C]PAQ is a promising imaging biomarker for visualization of angiogenesis, based on VEGFR2 expression, in primary tumours and during metastasis development.

Second MetaSystems Workshop in Dubai
MetaSystems held its second workshop in the Middle East this year between the 18th and 21st of February in Dubai, UAE. This time, in addition to a system demonstration, a probes workshop was also included. Over the course of two different workshops (one on the 18th/19th, one on the 20th/21st), 29 participants from 5 countries experienced the ease and quality of MetaSystems FISH probes, software, and hardware. Participants came from Pakistan, Iran, the UAE, Oman, and Lebanon.
MetaSystems on MedLab in Dubai
For the first time this year, MedLab in Dubai, the world’s largest laboratory exhibition and congress, took place separately from the ArabHealth. Being a leader in microscope based imaging, MetaSystems decided to attend this event in 2017 and to take advantage of direct contacts to regional sales representatives, partner companies, and customers.
