48th Congresso Nazionale di Microbiologia (SIM)
The congress will take place from 21 to 24 September 2020 in Via Festa del Perdono at the ancient "Spedale di Poveri", built by Francesco Sforza and Bianca Maria Visconti from 1456 on a project by Antonio Averlino, known as Filarete. The architectural complex, damaged by bombing during the last years of the Second World War, was restored and renovated in the early fifties and since 1958 it has been the official headquarters of the State Hospital.
The scientific programme of the congress, which returns to Milan after 16 years, will focus on topics of great impact such as "Antimicrobial Resistance", "Emerging Pathologies" and "Microbiota", revisited and discussed from the perspective of "One Health". Plenary sessions, round tables and in-depth discussions on basic and applied microbiological research will alternate with oral communications, selected from the scientific contributions submitted. As usual, there will be pre-congress workshops and sessions organized by the "Young SIM" group. The congress will close with the "Flash Communications" session, in which 12 young researchers, selected by special commissions, will present the results described in their posters on bacteriology, virology, mycology and parasitology, as well as on microorganism-host interactions.
MetaSystems will present a live Metafer system on this show.
